Sneak peek: Grand Center hotel to open in November
The long-awaited $65 million redevelopment of the Missouri Theater building at 634 N. Grand Blvd. will open its doors on Nov. 1, but without one major tenant. Bull Moose Industries, a Chesterfield-based metal tube manufacturer, will no longer move its headquarters to the Angad Arts Hotel building.
“The initial plans for the building included commercial space for our 75 employees we had at the time,” a spokeswoman for the company said. “However, we quickly realized that our growth plans for Bull…
Zillow, Opendoor entering Denver home market with instant offers
Zillow has become the go-to site for consumers wanting an estimate of a home’s value or a list of what’s available for sale in a neighborhood. But this fall, the website will go beyond real estate listings and start to make offers on Denver-area homes.
After launching Zillow Instant Offers in Phoenix and Las Vegas this spring, the Seattle real estate giant will expand the program to Atlanta in September and Denver before the end of the year.
And there will be competition. Opendoor, which has a four-year lead on Zillow in providing instant offers, is gearing up to launch in mid-October in metro Denver, its 15th market.
“We’ve already hired the general manager who will lead the office and have begin hiring for additional roles as well. We’ve got a local office space and have even begun partnering with local vendors/tradespeople,” said Opendoor spokeswoman Cristin Culver.
Opendoor, which has done about 20,000 deals, uses software to predict a home’s value and makes an instant offer, t..
Colorado Springs pushes to lock in $28 million in state incentives to finish “City for Champions” project
Colorado Springs pulled the goalie on Thursday, bringing a large delegation, including mayor John Suthers and Denver Broncos CEO Joe Ellis, in a last-minute push to lock in $28 million in incentives from the Colorado Economic Development Commission.
The tax-increment financing, already awarded under the Regional Tourism Act, are key to funding a new ice arena on the campus of Colorado College and a soccer stadium for the Colorado Springs Switchbacks.
But plans for those two venues in downtown Colorado Springs came together late in a five-year window that closes in December. Backers pressed hard to show the two venues are viable projects that can bring in the 118,500 net out-of-state visitors promised and that they have achieved “substantial” progress.
“The sports and event center play heavily in our branding as Olympic City USA,” said Suthers, adding that the 23 sports governing bodies and 29 other non-Olympic groups based in the city will have access to the facilities.

Denver’s Capitol Hill post office location closed following Sept. 7 roof leak
The roof of the U.S. Postal Service‘s Capitol Hill branch building in Denver sprang a leak earlier this month and now is expected to remain closed to customers until sometime in October while repairs are made.
The building at 1541 N. Marion St., technically in the City Park West neighborhood, has been closed since Sept. 7 when water began to leak from the roof, according to USPS officials. No mail was damaged, though some of it was stuck inside the building for a few days until the building was deemed safe to enter and the mail could be recovered and moved.
The building, which serves about 300 post office box customers and has a retail counter, is expected to remain closed for “probably a few weeks,” postal officials say.
“The safety of our employees and customers is paramount,” Denver Postmaster Lora McLucas said in a statement. “We apologize for any inconvenience this may cause our customers and we are working to quickly find a solution.”
While the building is out of commission, ..
