With the condos in 181 Fremont in San Francisco, developer Jay Paul Co. set out to prove that San Francisco is a global city worthy of eye-popping prices for homes.
It appears Jay Paul is on track, at least with the first penthouse sale in 181 Fremont. The three-bedroom, 3,326-square-foot home sold for $15 million or about $4,509 per square foot — setting a record as the highest price-per-square-foot condo sale in San Francisco. The buyer was not disclosed.

Renting is on the rise in the U.S., and Memphis is now No. 1
The number of people who rented versus owned their housing increased by about 5 percent nationwide from 2006 to 2016.
In Memphis, the number of renters increased by more than double that amount — 11 percent — over that same time period, according to an analysis of U.S. Census data by Zillow.
In fact, Memphis had the largest increase in renters among the 50 largest metros in the U.S., going from about 45 percent of residents who rented in 2006 to 56 percent in 2016.

Prairie Village fitness center embarks on major renovation
2020 Fitness in Prairie Village is ready to embark on a major renovation project that will give patrons more fitness options, the Shawnee Mission Post reports.
The city's planning commission gave conditional approval Tuesday for the project, which includes replacing the former post office loading dock with a 5,800-square-foot addition. Plans also include a rooftop deck that spans about 1,100 square feet.

San Jacinto College sets groundbreaking dates for 4 buildings around Houston
San Jacinto College will break ground on four buildings at its three main campuses around Houston this fall.
