Developer eyes 170 townhomes for Hoover
More townhomes could be on the way to Hoover.
According to the Hoover Sun, the Hoover Planning & Zoning Commission recommended rezoning 62 acres along Old Rocky Ridge Road to accommodate a plan for 170 townhomes by D.R. Horton.
The plan – like many recent proposed developments in suburban areas – drew objections from a number of nearby neighborhoods, but ultimately the commission recommended rezoning the property from multifamily use to allow the townhomes.

Luxury homes on Hawaii’s Kona Coast sold faster and for a higher average price than on other islands last year, while Oahu has seen a reduction in prices and an increase in the number of days those high-end homes are on the market, according to a market index report by Concierge Auctions.

School board approves West End land swap for FC Cincinnati stadium
The Cincinnati Public Schools Board of Education unanimously approved a land swap on Tuesday night that will help pave the way for FC Cincinnati to build a Major League Soccer stadium in the West End.

Brinker restaurant company sells longtime headquarters
Restaurant powerhouse Brinker International Inc. has sold its longtime headquarters at 6820 LBJ Freeway to new owners that have agreed to lease the 110,000-square-foot office complex to Dallas County.
Brinker (NYSE: EAT), the casual-dining restaurant company behind Chili’s Grill & Bar and Maggiano’s Little Italy, has occupied the property since 1983.
Dallas County plans to consolidate several offices into the building, although it was not immediately clear which ones.
