Dallas-Fort Worth home construction starts down 39% as builders face ‘new normal’


North Texas homebuilders started construction on 9,691 houses in the first quarter — up from 8,060 in the final quarter of last year but down 39% from the year-ago level of 16,014 in the first quarter of 2022. This is what the "new normal" of higher mortgage rates looks like, a DFW housing analyst says.
