Decades-old restaurant Hill’s Cafe to shutter — for now


Hill’s Cafe, a homespun eatery and music venue that has been in operation on South Congress Avenue for decades, will soon shut down. But the restaurant aims to reopen just up the road within a couple of years, according to multiple media reports.

Hill's Cafe has been at its current location, 4700 S. Congress Ave., for more than 50 years and was originally started in 1947. The last day of service will be Sept. 12, according to Eater Austin.
