Driftwood distillery takes its shot at distribution deal; production ramping up


A fast-growing Austin-area distillery is ramping up production and hiring after inking its first distribution deals in Central Texas.

Desert Door in in the tiny town of Driftwood, just south of Dripping Springs, opened last November and began production of sotol, made from a large weed harvested in West Texas that shares a lineage with the blue agave plant used to make tequila or mescal.
