Event planner turned real estate investor flips motels to affordable housing


Real estate developer Emily Hubbard looks at old motels in crime-ridden pockets of the region and sees “unicorns” that offer unusual opportunities for developers. While it can take years to build housing units, motel rooms can be tenant-ready in a matter of months since they only need slight tweaks.
