Federal shutdown cancels conference aimed at health care cooperation


A conference aimed at bringing together regulators, companies and academics to tackle knotty issues slowing the approval of drugs, medical devices and diagnostics has been cancelled due to the federal government shutdown.

Organizers vow that the conference, scheduled for Saturday ahead of the biotech industry's big J.P. Morgan Healthcare Conference next week, eventually will convene when Food and Drug Administration staffers — off the job because of the shutdown — return to their jobs and again…
