Feds allege OP man faked veteran ownership to win $40M in contracts


Troy Bechtel, of Overland Park, has been charged with two counts of major program fraud against the United States and two counts of lying to federal investigators.

The charges stem from a Merriam construction company called United Medical Design Builders LLC, which was awarded about $40 million in contracts from the Service-Disabled Veteran-Owned Small Business program.
