Few North Carolinians get to wear Masters’ green jacket


The Masters is back underway at Augusta National this week, and despite North Carolina’s remarkable golf heritage, few products of the state have worn the green jacket.

Taking a shot at it in this tournament is Raleigh native Webb Simpson. Simpson is ranked No. 23 in the world and raked in $128,150 last year when he tied for 20th at the Masters.

Simpson, who now lives in Charlotte, shot a par-72 in Thursday's opening round.
