First Republic Bank raising capital after joining S&P 500


First Republic Bank said Monday that it plans to sell up to 4 million shares at the market price. That would raise about $344 million at today’s share price at the $86 level.

The $96 billion bank (NYSE: FRC), which has built a solid franchise offering private banking and wealth management services to affluent clients, said it plans to use the money for lending, investing in securities or other general corporate purposes.
