Here are the Mass. cities and towns with the highest tax rates for 2019

If you own property in Massachusetts, here's some slightly good news: Your tax rate fell by about 1 percent over the past year.

With 347 of the cities and towns in Massachusetts having set their property tax rates for 2019 by the end of last year, the median residential tax rate was $15.37 per $1,000 in assessed value. That's down 20 cents (roughly 1 percent) from last year.

It's a similar situation on the commercial side: The median commercial rate in 2019 is $17.37, down from 17.54 in 2018.
