Experts say crime has always been a factor in commercial real estate decisions. But recent headlines and consequences from Covid-19 have heightened awareness of crime rates, sometimes giving them an outsized effect on decisions for corporate headquarters, retailers and others — even when the statistics don't back up the perception.
