JeffCo approves moving forward with UAB on Cooper Green


The Jefferson County Commission has passed a resolution that would allow the county to enter a due diligence period with UAB Health System to negotiate an agreement to create a University Health Care Authority at Cooper Green Mercy Health Services.

As previously reported, the authority would assume the risk of cost overages for health care expenditures above a capitated rate. The county has traditionally been tasked with providing care for its indigent population.
