Kansas City woman sues Stryker after its operating table collapsed mid-procedure


The collapse of an operating table during a Kansas City woman's gall bladder surgery — after laparoscopic instruments had been inserted — has prompted a federal product liability lawsuit.

Diana Caparro Chavez claims she suffered serious injuries and is suing the table's manufacturer, Stryker Corp., based in Kalamazoo, Michigan. After being filed in April in Wyandotte County (Kansas) District Court, the case was moved to federal court in Kansas in August.
