Legacy appoints permanent leader for Unity Center


The Unity Center for Behavioral Health has a new permanent leader, Legacy Health announced.

Melissa Eckstein will serve as president of Unity, a 107-bed psychiatric hospital and emergency room in Northeast Portland operated by Unity in collaboration with three other hospital systems.

Eckstein, who is relocating from Tucson, Ariz., will replace Gretchen Nichols, who has served in the role on an interim basis since mid-January.
