Mortgage Companies

The 2022 Austin Business Journal list of mortgage companies highlights residential mortgage loan production by local offices during 2021. The list is ranked by the dollar volume of mortgages the local office closed for properties in the Austin area and includes the corresponding number of loans made. Additionally, ABJ also tracks dollar volume and loan count for deals outside of the local coverage area. To be eligible, all deals must be handled by the local team. Austin coverage area includes Travis, Williamson, Hays, Bastrop, Caldwell and Burnet counties. In total, the 25 listmakers closed $12.2 billion in loans during 2021. Of that, $9 billion was local. By comparison, last year's top 25 listmakers closed $16.86 billion in loans during 2020. Of that, $7.6 billion was local. Several firms that participated last year, did not submit information this year: Amplify Credit Union, Texas Home Loan Experts, Wells Fargo Mortgage, Service First Mortgage and Guaranteed Rate. All loans must be originated and closed by the Austin office. Only retail home loans and refinancings are counted. Wholesale, repurchase, home equity, cash-outs, second liens and construction loans not included. ABJ gathers data by sending surveys to company representatives. Only firms that responded to requests for information are included.
