Pizza Nea is closing after 17-year run in Northeast


Pizza Nea, one of the Twin Cities' best-regarded pizzerias, is closing its Northeast Minneapolis location for good this weekend.

Owner Mike Sherwood, who opened Pizza Nea 17 years ago at 306 E. Hennepin Ave. (just across from Surdyk's liquor store) announced the decision to close on Twitter Wednesday.

WCCO has a report, noting that Sherwood isn't blaming a move by Minneapolis to raise the minimum wage.
