Sanford and Fairview Health rekindle merger conversation after 10 years


Sanford Health and Fairview Health are making a second effort at a merger that would create one of the upper Midwest's largest health systems. An earlier attempt to combine the two systems fell apart in 2013.

Sioux Falls, S.D.-based Sanford said Tuesday it has signed a non-binding letter of intent with Minneapolis-based Fairview Health. The combined systems would remain nonprofit entities, each with their own regional leadership.
