Texas mayors, including Dallas and Fort Worth’s, oppose cap on government revenue growth


Count Dallas Mayor Mike Rawlings and Fort Worth Mayor Betsy Price among the Texas elected officials who oppose a bill that would limit how much local government revenue can grow each year.

More than 130 people signed up to speak on House Bill 2 in the House Ways & Means Committee on Feb. 27. The bill would cap revenue growth for local government budgets each year at 2.5 percent. Any bigger increase would require voter approval.
