Theranos founder Elizabeth Holmes sentenced to more than 11 years in prison


Theranos Inc. founder Elizabeth Holmes was sentenced to more than 11 years in prison on Friday for defrauding investors.

U.S. District Court Judge Edward Davila delivered the 135-month sentence in federal court in San Jose, The Wall Street Journal reported. Davila ordered Holmes to surrender to authorities April 27, according to the report.

Holmes has 14 days to appeal her conviction, and her lawyers will seek to let her stay out of prison on bail pending appeal, The Journal reported.
