Tiller Memorial Fund awards $106,000 in local grants


The Wichita Community Foundation is awarding $106,000 to nine projects through the George R. Tiller, M.D., Memorial Fund for the Advancement of Women's Health.

Tiller was a Wichita physician who performed abortions and other services to women patients. He was murdered at his church on May 31, 2009. Friday is the 10-year anniversary of his death.

The grants will be provided to these nonprofits:

— Central Plains Health Care Partnership, $12,500 to provide treatment for women with health insurance.
