Tribe seals the deal on Willamette Falls land purchase


After a few months of due diligence on a 23-acre site near Willamette Falls — and more than 160 years after their ancestors were forcibly removed from the area — the Confederated Tribes of Grand Ronde have sealed the deal.

The tribe announced today that is has acquired the property from Tacoma developer George Heidgerken. Terms of the acquisition were not disclosed. Heidgerken bought the property in 2014 for $2.2 million.
