‘Unsung hero’ retiring CPD officer Al Staples thanked for service at Music Hall


Cincinnati Police Officer Al Staples is everyone’s friend. He’s the first responder who is credited with saving Whitney Austin’s life during a shooting at Fifth Third Bank on Fountain Square in 2018. He’s the singing police officer who graces the large mural on the CET building behind Music Hall. He’s the “Man of Faith” who sings for residents in nursing homes, and sometimes prays with them.

Chances are, if you attend events at Music Hall, you know him, too. He’s the smiling face…
