USF Health, TGH use postage stamp-size tile to slow recurring brain tumors


Tampa General Hospital and the University of South Florida’s College of Medicine have once again teamed up on cutting-edge biotechnology.

The latest is a postage stamp-size tile, dubbed the GammaTile, that can slow the return of brain tumors post-operation. Physicians implant the tile immediately after brain surgery, which targets any leftover tumor cells with precise gamma-ray doses.
