Viewpoint: I refuse to apologize for Baltimore — and you should too


I love Baltimore. There, I said it.

If you had talked to me in the past few years, you would have discovered that it was becoming very much, a love-hate relationship. The 2015 unrest, rising crime, corruption on the police force and exasperation over how this city is run made it difficult to truly embrace my adopted hometown of more than 20 years.

At my lowest point, I found myself looking for homes in Lutherville, Catonsville and even other cities. I wanted to be anywhere but here.
