Where property taxes are highest in the Albany area


Homeowners in Schenectady paid the highest effective property tax rate in the Albany area last fiscal year at $48.20 per $1,000. The rate was down $3.30 per $1,000 from the year before.

That's according to an analysis by the Empire Center for Public Policy, a fiscally conservative research group in Albany. The effective tax rate includes taxes paid to the county, town/city, school district and village (where applicable).
