As the cost of living — from home prices to gas — rises across the Bay Area and beyond, almost half of the region's residents have lost faith in the American Dream.
Forty-five percent of Bay Area residents say the American Dream — if you work hard, you will get ahead — is still true today, compared to 44 percent who say it “once held true but not anymore,” according to new research by the Public Religion Research Institute (PRRI).
