New condominium properties in the Austin Business Journals tracks units under development, or closed during 2022. The list is compiled in partnership with Zonda Advisory who provided the data. Information encompasses the five-county Austin area including Travis, Williamson, Hays, Bastrop and Caldwell counties. Data tracks one year of activity during 2022. Condos listed represent all condos that have had annual starts or closings during that time. The number of condos closed is an estimate based upon deed transactions as of Dec. 31, 2022. Only projects with 10 or more units are tracked. Projects completed before 1Q 2022 or started in 2023 are not included. According to Zonda, there were 2,629 condo units under construction or closed during 2022. Of those 2,228 were starts and 400 were closings. By Comparison, in 2021 Zonda counted 985 condos under construction, or closed. Of 985 units, 605 were starts and 380 were closings.
