Other senior independent living facilities might have been eligible but did not respond to requests for information. Local refers to the Louisville area of Jefferson, Bullitt, Oldham and Shelby counties in Kentucky and Clark, Floyd and Harrison counties in Indiana.

Information on The List was supplied by the Home Builders Association of Greater Kansas City, obtained through Kansas City Business Journal research or supplied by individual companies through questionnaires that KCBJ could not independently verify. In case of ties, companies are listed alphabetically. KCHBA includes structures with four or fewer units in its single-family data. For the purposes of its permit reports, the association counts each unit individually (e.g. a duplex counts as two).

Information was obtained from LendingPatterns.com, an HMDA data analysis software tool developed by ComplianceTech. The data, which is derived from HMDA-LAR (Home Mortgage Disclosure Act’s Loan/Application Register) figures published by the Federal Financial Institutions Examination Council, includes all residential purchase loans originated in 2022 for properties in the Kansas City metro. Multifamily mortgages are excluded. The Kansas City Business Journal could not independently verify information on the List.
