Garces Group files for Chapter 11 bankruptcy, Louisiana company to buy assets for $5M+
A Louisiana-based hospitality company has agreed to buy the assets of Philadelphia-based Garces Restaurant Group for more than $5 million.
Ballard Brands offered the cash deal, which includes assumed liabilities, the two organizations announced Wednesday. As part of the deal, Garces Group filed for Chapter 11 bankruptcy protection in Camden, N.J., also on Wednesday.
The Ballard-Garces transaction is expected to close in 45 to 60 days. It will be “business as usual” until then, the group announced.

The largest mixed-use project in the history of suburban Hutto has landed a tenant with plenty of Texas history and statewide recognition.
Barbecue restaurant Southside Market announced Wednesday it will open its third location at The Co-Op District, under development by MA Partners on U.S. Route 79 a little west of FM 1660. “Mexican and Asian food is so versatile,” said owner Anita Lozano. “You can do high-end Mexican, and you can do street Mexican — something that you can't do with a lot of cuisines.”

The two black men arrested at a Rittenhouse Starbucks last month have reached a settlement with the city of Philadelphia – a symbolic $1 and a promise from city leaders to establish a $200,000 program to help young entrepreneurs – as well as an agreement with the Seattle-based national coffee chain.
