Beer patriarch Bill Coors, grandson of Adolph Coors Co. founder, dies at 102


Bill Coors, grandson of Adolph Coors, founder of Adolph Coors Co., died Saturday. He was 102.

Born Aug. 11, 1916, Coors went to work in the family business in Golden in 1939 and remained with the company for 65 years. In 1959 he became chairman of its board of directors and served on the board until 2003.

Coors and his brother Joe, who died in 2003, are credited with refining the brewery's cold-filtered beer manufacturing system and also with the introduction of the mass-produced aluminum beer…
