Care New England wanted to bring Partners HealthCare back to negotiating table


When merger discussions between Providence-based Care New England and nearby Lifespan fell apart in mid-July, Care New England turned to Rhode Island’s governor.

Gov. Gina Raimondo had called for Care New England (CNE) and Lifespan to start merger discussions, prompting CNE to press pause on their plans to be acquired by Boston-based Partners HealthCare.
