R. House’s BRD opening second location in Federal Hill
R. House stall BRD is venturing out beyond the nest.
The chicken concept — it's pronounced “bird,” and the name is an acronym for “baked, roasted and deep fried” — will add a second location later this year. The eatery's first solo brick-and-mortar space is slated to open in August inside the Wheelhouse, a new apartment development in Federal Hill.

The parent company for one of the first cannabis dispensaries likely to open in Boston has announced a $55 million investment to help it build out its flagship Boston store and expand into Ohio.

Boston Beer plans to launch three new categories of drinks in the year ahead, all of which will be marketed toward customers interested in health and wellness.

Recently acquired Houston restaurant closes for remodel, rebranding
Sambrooks Management Co. has announced another project: expand, rebrand and remodel Star Fish, one of the three restaurants it acquired last summer.
Star Fish, at 191 Heights Blvd., closed after service on Feb. 16, a spokeswoman said. For the next four weeks, the restaurant — which will now be called 1751 Sea and Bar — will receive an interior remodeling that will expand the bar area, according to a press release. Very young children are exposed to twice the screen time as children in the late 1990s, exceeding pediatric guidelines, researchers say.
A new study published in JAMA Pediatrics looked at parent diary data kept from 1997 to 2014, per CNN. Children under 2 spent about 1.32 hours per day in front of screens in 1997. In 2014, the daily amount was 3.05 hours.

Longtime Lagerfeld collaborator Virginie Viard to head Chanel
Longtime Karl Lagerfeld collaborator Virginie Viard has been named head of creative operations for Chanel following Lagerfeld’s death at age 85.
Viard will be the first woman to lead the company since Gabrielle “Coco” Chanel introduced the brand in 1910, Vogue UK reported.
CEO Alain Wertheimer, whose family owns the design house, said in a statement that Viard had been entrusted with the position “so that the legacy of Gabrielle Chanel and Karl Lagerfeld can live on.”
