The James Beard Foundation announced Wednesday the 2019 semifinalists for its prestigious James Beard Awards, and a number of Hawaii restaurants and chefs made the cut.

Colby and Megan Garrelts again headed up a bountiful list from the Kansas City area when the James Beard Foundation announced its list of semifinalists for awards honoring restaurants and chefs. The couple also were listed as semifinals last year. The James Beard Award is one of the most coveted in the industry. The list of semifinalists is voted on by more than 600 judges nationwide.

Yale Station is a five-story, transit-oriented apartment complex located in the heart of Denver close to restaurants, shopping and transportation. Jordon Perlmutter & Co. developed the project, which was designed by OZ Architecture and built by Shaw Construction.

A fifth restaurant on the 3000 block of Broadway Street is set to close following a change in ownership.

Warren Buffett said Monday that his Berkshire Hathaway company may have “overpaid” for Kraft when the Kraft Heinz Company was created three years ago.

“We overpaid for Kraft. We wrote down $15 billion for that. We misjudged it,” Buffett said on an interview with CNBC this morning.

Buffett and Berkshire Hathaway (NYSE: BRK) now own about 27 percent of Chicago- and Pittsburgh-based Kraft Heinz (Nasdaq: KHC) but he said he has no intention of selling his stake.

Little Bird Coffee Bar has flown the coop in Hampden — but the closure means a new phase for its sister bar, the Bluebird Cocktail Room.

Little Bird served its last customers Sunday after about six months in business at 3600 Hickory Road. The laid-back spot, which paid homage to Italian restaurants and French cafes with a menu of pastas and baguette sandwiches, will soon become an extension of the popular cocktail room upstairs, co-owner Paul Benkert said.
