Mayor Catherine Pugh took a trip to Lexington Market Wednesday, urging people to come visit as vendors say business continues to struggle after video of a rat scurrying through a market stall went viral.

On a new list of the nation's highest-grossing independent restaurants, very few are from the Los Angeles area.

That's according to the latest Top 100 Independent Restaurant list compiled by Restaurant Business magazine, which includes only four restaurants from the Los Angeles area.

That compares with New York City, which leads all cities with 30 restaurants on the list. The city of Las Vegas is second with 13 restaurants and Chicago proper has 12.

Five restaurants and two retailers are still slated to open at Keauhou Lane, a mixed-use condominium building in Kakaako.

Oregon-based Gerding Edlen developed the 209-unit rental project, which is anchored by natural foods store Down to Earth and includes 34,000 total square feet of ground floor commercial space. The United Kingdom's largest craft brewery, whose American headquarters sits in Columbus, is opening a gigantic taproom and restaurant in Cincinnati's Pendleton neighborhood.

Owner and chef Ben Poremba has closed Parigi, located at 8025 Bonhomme Ave. in Clayton, effective immediately.

“We thank the Clayton community for embracing Parigi and offering continuous support to our team over the years,” Poremba said in a statement. “We'd also like to thank Clayton on the Park and its owner, The Koman Group, for a positive partnership in championing our vision.”

Poremba did not cite a reason for the restaurant's closure.
