MJ Café, the Windward Mall sister restaurant to the now-shuttered Mocha Java Café, will open a second location in Kapolei.

The Kaneohe café confirmed to Pacific Business News that it will open in the Ka Makana Alii shopping center, but it was not available to offer specifics. Earlier this month, it applied for an $8,000 building permit with the City Department of Planning and Permitting.

A Chapel Hill bakery has filed for Chapter 7 bankruptcy.

Sugarland, which also operated a now-closed storefront in Raleigh's Cameron Village, filed for bankruptcy Wednesday, listing assets of less than $50,000. That's as debts fall between $50,000 and $100,000, according to the filing.

The bakery's owners, Randolph and Katrina Ryan, filed for individual Chapter 7 bankruptcy Tuesday. Court documents associated with that filing note that “no property appears to be available to pay creditors.”

Chris Hursey said the demand for barbecue catering has risen with the economy.

“It is growing,” Hursey told Triad Business Journal. “It's going crazy. I'm no longer able to get out of the restaurant. I've got a lot more than I can do. Over the last two years, it's getting consistently bigger.”

Ticket revenue and total operating revenue grew in fiscal 2018 at the St. Louis Symphony Orchestra, which celebrated its 50th year at Powell Hall.

According to SLSO annual report, ticket revenue was up 5.5 percent over the previous year and total operating revenue increased to $30.9 million from $30.29 million the previous year. In addition, the organization’s expenses totaled $30.4 million resulting in an operating surplus of $490,000, up from $18,000 in 2017.

Columbus’ best known bagels are popping up in the North Market.

Starting Nov. 4, Block’s Bagels will operate a seasonal weekend pop-up shop at the downtown market through January.
