Originally designed by famed San Francisco architect Willis Polk, the Mediterranean and Tudor-style mansion at 2323 Hyde St. was constructed in 1900 for Fanny Osborn-Stevenson, the widow of author Robert Louis Stevenson, author of “Treasure Island” and “The Strange Case of Dr. Jekyll and Mr.…

A luxurious estate in Boulder’s Knollwood neighborhood is on the market for $7.5 million.

The home sits on a 0.45-acre lot at 2135 Knollwood Drive and faces south so that its floor-to-ceiling windows can flood the main rooms with natural sunlight and take in Boulder Canyon and Flatirons, which are visible from nearly every window of the 5,075-square-foot home.

“It’s on the western edge of Boulder right above downtown,” said Tim Goodacre, owner of Goodacre & Company. “It’s private and quiet in the Knollwood subdivision with walking trails right above it.”

Annette Martin, a Boulder architect, designed this home that replaced one which was bought for $2.1 million in 2015.

The single-family property houses three bedrooms and five bathrooms and was built last year. Inside features oak floors and its hallmark centers around the living room.

“The living room expands to the deck, so it’s a true indoor-outdoor living space,” Goodacre said.

In plain terms, Castle Rock is a 145-year-old town and the historic county seat of fast-growing, Denver-adjacent, but still largely rural Douglas County.

When looked at through the lens of economic development, Castle Rock might best be described as a recent college grad. It’s got tools and potential. Now it’s time to find a job. Or, in this case, jobs; thousands of them, ideally.

“We’re at about 70,000 residents, according to Census data, and 80 percent of our workforce travels outside the community for their jobs,” Marcus Notheisen, vice president of the Castle Rock Economic Development Council, said last week.

With a population expected to balloon to nearly 140,000 by the time the town is fully built out, the concern is that the bedroom community model is not sustainable, no matter how many lanes are added to Interstate 25.

“We really want to solve some of the commuting and some of the primary employment and job creation issues,” Notheisen said.

In the sea of Denver’s booming rental market, a national program called Crime Free Multi-Housing could be coming soon to an apartment near you.

“It’s being considered right now as one of the tools for us,” said Denver Lieutenant Kevin Edling. “We’re looking at if it fits in Chief Pazen’s view of what we want in the city and county of Denver when it comes to crime prevention and reducing social harms.”
