Monday Properties has acquired a high-profile Shirlington office building for $40.8 million — significantly less than its assessed value and much, much less than the previous owner paid for it a decade ago.

D.C.-based Monday does not have any major redevelopment or repositioning plans for the 206,200-square-foot Shirlington Gateway at 2800 Shirlington Road, fronting I-395 and a short walk to the Village at Shirlington. But the 12-story building is about 30 percent vacant, so the focus will be…

North American cities have been jockeying to win Amazon's HQ2 for more than a year.

Amazon compiled a top-20 list (see graphic below), and since then the Seattle-based e-commerce giant sifted through tons of data. Turns out, there could very well be a tie between Crystal City, Virginia and Long Island City, located in Queens, New York.

Both The Wall Street Journal and The New York Times reported Monday that Amazon (NASDAQ: AMZN) had switched its original strategy of picking one location for…

A plumbing wholesaler is working on plans to build a new distribution hub that would service the company’s Raleigh locations.

There's an old ski lodge and a burned-out mill, two Pietro Belluschi homes and a colorful carousel that went missing for years. There's also a building from the Civil War era, a wilderness guard station and a 126-year-old church.

All of them, and a few more, landed on Restore Oregon's annual list of Oregon's 12 Most Endangered Historic Places, which the nonprofit released on Friday.

Many of the projects have been on the list before, but several are new to the lineup.

According to a release,…

Amazon.com Inc. plans to split its second headquarters between two locations rather than picking one site.

That is according to a Nov. 5 afternoon story by the Wall Street Journal that reported Seattle-based Amazon (Nasdaq: AMZN) wants to evenly distribute the estimated 50,000 HQ2 employees. The WSJ cited an unidentified person familiar with the matter.

The New York Times later confirmed that report, adding that Amazon is “nearing a deal” to move to the Long Island City neighborhood of Queens and…

The site of the former Ibiza nightclub is being readied for its next life.

D.C. developer Altus Realty bought the property at 1222 First St. NE for $10.5 million from owner 1222-1st Street NE LLC, and plans to either build a hotel or multifamily there, according to Altus partner Charlie Kehler.

Though Kehler declined to discuss the project further, the corporate registration of the entity that bought the property contains a big clue that a boutique brand hotel may be in the cards. One of the…

Last month, the NBJ first reported that the shopping center company had signed a contract to buy part of the 300-acre Century Farms development in Antioch.

Baptist Health plans to build a “comprehensive health campus” in Nocatee on a 12-acre parcel north of Preservation Trail and east of CrossTown.

The development will include a primary care office, specialty care and wellness programming. It is expected to break ground in early 2019.

Health and safety programming will be provided by The Players Center for Child Health at Wolfson Children's Hospital.

The Baptist Primary Care office at 98 Nocatee Village Drive will relocate to the new building.

Boston Realty Advisors has acquired CL Waterfront Properties, a seven-person residential real estate brokerage specializing in the resale market.

The all-cash deal broadens the Boston-based real estate firm’s offerings beyond commercial and residential brokerage, said Boston Realty Advisors CEO Jason Weissman.

“This is really the last leg of the stool,” Weissman said. “It really rounds out our service to offer best-in-class service to the market and all the disciplines that we approach,…
