Milwaukee County weighing discrimination protection order for Section 8 renters
The Milwaukee County Board will decide next week whether to vote in a policy forbidding apartment building owners and property managers from turning away renters based solely on them receiving rental or housing assistance from the U.S. government.

Fake rental ads are everywhere, and Colorado consumers need to watch out
With school out and summer around the corner, more people are on the move, and so too are scams artists trying to take advantage of them.
Bogus ads on Craigslist, Facebook and other forums offering rentals that really aren’t for rent tend to rise with the temperatures outside. The ads, which can stay up for hours before getting flagged as fraudulent, usually show appealing pictures pulled from other online postings and offer an alluring lease rate.
Almost always, the poster had had to move away because of an unforeseen situation that solicits sympathy. And while common sense says never wire money to rent a place you haven’t seen in person, the posters insist they are completely trustworthy. Just wire the money and the key will be on its way.

At first she was suspicious, then frustrated, and then angry when ..
U.S. new home construction expected to fall 300,000 units short of demand this year, more pressure for home-starved markets like Denver
LAS VEGAS — Another day, more troubling numbers for the U.S. housing market.
The National Association of Home Builders forecasts builders will get started on 909,000 new homes across the county over the course of 2018, chief economist Robert Dietz said during a panel discussion at the National Association of Real Estate Editors conference here Thursday. The problem is that figure will fall 300,000 short of demand.
“We continue to under build single-family housing,” Dietz said. “(So) home-price growth should continue to outpace income growth due to the scarcity.”
The prediction jibes with data being tracked by Seattle-based real estate brokerage Redfin. In a newly released assessment of 174 U.S. metro areas, Redfin found that home prices went up an average of 6.3 percent last month over a year ago. In Denver, average home prices crept up just slightly May over April, hitting $415,500. But that figure is 10.4 percent higher than the average price Redfin tracked in the metro area in Ma..
