Denver ranks 10th in a new study that looks at what $200,000 would buy in square footage in the nation’s top 32 metropolitan areas.

For that amount of money, a buyer can only get 661 square feet of home in Denver, the smallest bang for the buck outside of California, Washington and big Eastern cities such as New York and Boston.

For $200,000, Cleveland’s housing market offered a palatial 3,769 square feet, while Memphis, Tenn., came in at 2,965 square feet. Some might says it’s better to rent a micro-apartment in Denver with a killer job and great craft brews than own a McMansion in a fading Midwestern city where Budweiser remains the king of beers.

But low housing prices don’t have to equate with economic stagnation. Texas is no slouch when it comes to population growth, job creation and economic vitality. For $200,000 in Houston, a buyer would receive 2,039 square feet. In San Antonio, that amount buys a home with 3,249 square feet, and in Dallas, it buys 1,824 square feet. Even A..

Like a roadside attraction, the original Chipotle lured Michele Wagner on Thursday. Outside the restaurant chain’s birthplace, at 1644 E. Evans Ave., she posed her out-of-town family members for a photo.

“It’s like an icon,” Wagner said. “We heard about the headquarters moving yesterday, and it’s just a very sad day.”

Colorado is in a state of shock after learning that Denver’s quirky fast-casual chain — whose new CEO is from Taco Bell — is moving its headquarters to Newport Beach, Calif., an upscale community known for yachts, Kobe Bryant and a TV show called “The O.C.”

Chipotle Mexican Grill will join a county also stuffed with fast-food corporate offices, including neighbors Taco Bell and Del Taco. The sudden news created a wave of nostalgia for many in Denver on Thursday.

“Chipotle is a part of our life,” said Wagner, a Centennial resident who has been bringing her family to the broker of burritos since its opening in 1993. “We have a connection with it in our family.”

A massive furniture retail outlet has opened just north of Austin in Pflugerville, the nation's third-fastest growing city.

California-based Living Spaces opened a new showroom and distribution center in Pflugerville on Friday. The 500,000-square-foot facility — that's about seven times as big as the average HEB grocery store and a tad smaller than the Frost Bank Tower in downtown Austin — is located near the intersection of State Highway 45 and Heatherwilde Boulevard, just west of the Texas…

After a bit of a delay, the public and private partners have come to terms to get the project back on track. Construction could start in 18 months.

In early May, an Ikea executive emailed Cary Town Manager Sean Stegall to setup a face-to-face meeting. The message didn’t hint at the bad news to follow.

Illinois is losing more residents than any state except for one.

In 2015, Illinois had a population of 12.17 million. By only 2016 (the latest year available), it shrank to about 12.15 million, resulting in a net drop of 138,000 people.

This trend has been the case for awhile, as Illinois citizens have been moving out of the state for years. This exodus from Illinois is due to many factors, the top ones cited by experts being high taxes, high cost of living, high in-state tuition, and a poor jobs…
