Gov. Baker proposes selling Hynes to fund BCEC expansion


Gov. Charlie Baker is pursuing the sale of Hynes Convention Center in Back Bay, he announced Monday, with the proceeds to be used to fund the long-debated expansion of the Seaport District’s Boston Convention and Exhibition Center (BCEC).

The proposal would open up a large property on Boylston Street for redevelopment, a prospect likely to generate heavy interest among developers amid a building boom in that neighborhood and across Boston.
