Price tag to convert hotels to housing for homeless rises


Creating permanent, supportive housing has been one of the primary goals of the city’s homelessness response. Since 2020, Austin has bought four hotels to be converted into housing for the homeless. Here's the latest on those efforts, which have been hampered by rebounding tourism and rising real estate prices.
