REVIEW: Marimba soloist dazzles in Chamber Orchestra’s eclectic tribute to Leonardo da Vinci


The mallets of Serbian percussion virtuoso Nebojsa Jovan Zivkovic flew up and down his marimba in an astounding display of technical wizardry.

Zivkovic’s performance of his own piece, “Rondo da Vinci,” added wow factor to the opening night of Cincinnati Chamber Orchestra’s Summermusik festival on Saturday. It was just one of several unexpected surprises in music director Eckart Preu’s inventive, wide-ranging program in Corbett Theater at the School for Creative and Performing Arts.
