UC Davis to collaborate with BASF on human milk nutrition project


The University of California Davis and German chemical company BASF SE will collaborate on research on the nutritional properties of human milk.

Together, UC Davis and BASF will work to find applications of human milk oligosaccharides, or "HMOs," in nutritional products. HMOs, indigestible carbohydrates found in human breast milk, have been shown to benefit gut health, and in turn other human tissues including the skin and brain.
