Former Rockies manager Walt Weiss is selling his Castle Rock mansion that comes complete with a baseball diamond in the backyard and an indoor hitting cage. It can be yours for… $2 million.
That’s the listing price of the 10,668-square-foot home featuring six beds, six full bathrooms, two half baths, a heated pool, a hot tub, batting cage and a basketball court on a 35-acre lot. It recently went on the market Aug. 7 and is located in a gated community just west of scenic Castlewood Canyon State Park.
Weiss, who’s been the bench coach for the Braves the past couple of seasons, managed Colorado from 2013-16 while compiling a record of 283-365 (.437). A 14-year big-league veteran, the former shortstop coached at Regis Jesuit High School prior to managing in LoDo. He also played for Colorado from 1994-97, and was the 1988 American League rookie of the year with Oakland.
Over the years Weiss has lived at the Castle Rock property he’s been known to invite local players he knows out to his backyard diamond for workouts. He returned to Denver on Monday as the Rockies beat the Braves 3-1 in a make-up game from April 10.
