Boca Raton lawyer gets prison time for pump-and-dump securities fraud


James M. Schneider was sentenced to seven years in prison Thursday for his involvement in a 15-year shell factory scheme and pump-and-dump stock swindle.

Schneider, a Boca Raton securities lawyer, was convicted of 33 counts of conspiracy, securities fraud, wire fraud, money laundering and conspiracy to commit money laundering in connection with the scheme.

U.S. District Judge Federico A. Moreno ordered Schneider to pay $19.7 million in restitution to more than 2,000 defrauded investors as well…
