Home sales declined on Hawaii’s Big Island last month, compared to a year ago, while prices of single-family homes declined and condominium prices remained flat, according to statistics from Hawaii Information Service on behalf of Hawaii Island Realtors.

Home prices on Kauai rose by double-digits in November, compared to a year ago, with the median price of a Garden Isle condominium jumping by 35 percent, according to statistics provided by Hawaii Information Service on behalf of the Kauai Board of Realtors.

When Amanda Troutman got approved for a loan to buy a new home in a still under-construction neighborhood of Green Valley Ranch, the Denver Public Schools teacher didn’t tell her three daughters right away.

“My initial reaction was actually just fear,” the single mom said. “It was almost like someone said here is this great Christmas present, but it could be taken away at any time.”

It took a few weeks to sink in that she could be a homeowner in Denver. Now, Troutman and her daughters are not only looking forward to moving into their new home this coming spring, they’re thinking about a roommate.

A Georgia real estate firm has cashed out of an investment in Durham’s Imperial Center, selling two buildings for a total of $45.2 million.

Bridge Investment Group closed on the deal Monday, selling the Carlisle Place and Stratford Hall buildings to OA Development Inc., also of Georgia.
