A Germantown couple plans to turn their passion and family history into a sausage and beer business that is expected to open next fall.

Georgene and Scott Sommer, owners of Old Germantown, want to create an agri-tourism destination at their 120-acre farm on Pleasant View Drive by adding a kitchen, brewery and sausage production facilities. B. Lane Carrick is opening Neapolitan Pizza Company MidiCi at 270 Rele St. on Saturday, Sept. 22.

Burger joint chain Checkers Drive-In Restaurants Inc., operator of Checkers and Rally’s restaurants, wants to grow its Milwaukee-area footprint by at least 20 more locations.
